Leaving a Gift in Your Will

How will my gift be used?

At Lupton Trust, we are committed to supporting local people of all, groups, charities, arts and environmental projects each year to grow, develop and learn within a magical setting in the heart of Torbay.

A gift left in your will, will make an important difference to the lives of those vulnerable individuals who continue to engage with the project year on year

Our Story

The Lupton Trust was formed in 2008 by a group of local people aiming to breathe life back into Lupton House – an old empty school, gardens and woods in Brixham and set up a community well-being hub. By pooling ours and our communities’ enthusiasm, skills, expertise and knowledge we deliver an environmentally sustainable space for the whole community; enabling up to 4000 local people of all, groups, charities, arts and environmental projects each year to grow, develop and learn within a magical setting in the heart of Torbay.

Lupton Trust won the Prime Ministers Big S award in 2013 the Prime minister said,
“I am incredibly impressed by what this group has achieved. The Lupton Trust has inspired and empowered people, providing work experience for people suffering from mental illness, for disabled people, and for those looking for employment. It has built people’s confidence in their abilities and helped them to forge new social and business partnerships. The project has brought together a community that will leave a powerful and lasting legacy for future generations – it is an excellent example of the Big Society in action.”

Lupton Trust benefits from being remote/rural yet easily accessible within Torbay. The Wellbeing Village and listed manor house are set back from the road by 100s of acres of park/woodland with parking on site and a main bus stop at the top of the drive. Lots of people find solace from the hustle and bustle of Torbay and often life. Many community projects in Torbay become overwhelmed by tourists throughout certain times of the year however, due to our secluded location, we are often used primarily by the local community.

We have a wide range of individuals who are disabled or have mental health issues tending to the site, socialising in the community café, walking for wellbeing in the grounds and/or volunteering and learning employability skills through the various projects offered. All this is possible due to the inclusivity, welcoming nature and warmth of the trust. There is a harmonious balance between those with disabilities and the neural typical, with individuals engaging from all walks of life who are wanting to build meaningful and sustainable experiences. There is a unique sense of heart and care from all the community and general public who visit.

How do I leave a gift in my will?

Once you have made provision for family and friends, please consider leaving Lupton Trust a share of what is left. You can speak to your solicitor about adding Lupton Trust to the charities you would like to remember.

There are two main ways of leaving a gift. A pecuniary legacy is a fixed amount of money. And a residuary legacy is a percentage or share of the balance of your estate once all other payments and gifts have been made.
